Some of the causes of dark underarms are as follows Friction due to tight blouses and tops that brush against the skin, Excessive sweating, Infections due to improper washing of underarms, Shaving, Dead skin buildup, Chemicals, alcohol and strong fragrance in deodorants.

Here are some of the home remedies for girls:

Apply a paste of 1 tbsp. curd, 1 tsp. gram flour, pinch of turmeric and 1 tsp. milk on your underarms. Rinse with cold water when it dries. Apply paste of rose water and sandalwood powder on your underarms.

Do not shave your underarms, instead wax them regularly. It will not only remove hair but also the dead skin.

How about plucking? Are there bad results caused by plucking?

Yes, you can acquire chicken like skin with plucking. That is the most observed dilemma of women. Try waxing. It's a little painful but doesn't darken underarms. And the hairs don't grow that fast too :)

Does waxing also remove ingrown hair? Sometimes, when I shave my underarms, there are hair strands left because they grew inside the skin. Do you get what I mean? I hate to tell you this but this has been my problem aside from getting chicken like skin.

Also, is it true that putting on calamansi helps eliminate dark underarms?

Yes it does help lighten the skin ShimyMisha but be careful and make sure not to over do it because you may end up burning your skin too. Yeah, waxing will take care of the ingrown hairs. You can try it to see if it works for you too :)
