A Line of $1 Make-Up Competes Against Higher Priced Products

An e-mail circulating among women claims that e.l.f. cosmetics is being discounted to only one dollar by a department store such as Nordstrom's due to repackaging. A quick check of snopes.com shows that the e-mail is false. The makeup is not associated with any department store. It is simply a cosmetics company with very low prices. So, given thier low prices and the knowledge that with certain discounts, such as entering the code CAROLINA with orders of under $15 to get 50% off your order (so each product is only 50 cents instead of $1), it still looks like a great deal, regardless of the fake Nordstrom's story. But the main question is: Is the product any good?
Online Ordering Vs. In the Store

If you find e.l.f. makeup in a store such as Target you can see what you are getting and there is no wait. Online ordering is a matter of buyer beware. A browse of epinions finds a lot of unhappy customers with long waits in the two-month plus range and orders that are incomplete when they do arrive.

The Suite101 test products were ordered on June 11 and arrived on July 3. The This is a longer than normal wait time for most products ordered online, yet shorter than most of the epinion complaints. The bottom line here would be: find it in the store if you really want to try it, or otherwise be prepared to wait.
Quality of e.l.f. Makeup

The cosmetics order arrived complete. The products were ordered by an individual and sent to her home address so e.l.f. had no idea that the items were for a review. The makeup order included one All Over Cover Stick in Light, a Regular & Waterproof Mascara Duo in Black, two Plumping Lip Glazes in Mauve Berry and Mocha Ice, five Brightening Eye Color eye shadows in Drama, Matte Mauve, Butternut, Pretty N'Pink, and Luxe, and a Duo Eye Shadow Cream in Butter Pecan. With the order came a free item, the Lip Gloss Cell Phone Charms in Flirt and Fairy.

The All Over Cover Stick had a nice, fruity smell, but the consistency was surprising. It was not like other coverup sticks such as Cover Girl; this one went on with more of a liquid consistency. Also, its extra wide shape made it difficult to pinpoint problem areas such as undereye circles. Compared to the tester's usual brand, this one was a step down.

I have never tried ELF yet, but based on the review, I'm not sure if it's worth it :).

For me it's worth it! It's a lot cheaper than most products and the quality is really good!

It maybe late but I have tried so many ELF makeup and I have been very satisfied. I have always been a Revlon, Maybelline, and Loreal user but ELF is definitely climbing the charts considering that it is very very cheap! I will post some specific reviews later on :D.
