We were born with the bodies that are all beautiful in their own right but instead of being content with what we were given and mindful to take care of it; we take our bodies for granted stuffing them in to clothes that don’t fit and spending the majority of our lives hiding them in shame.

Now we have reason to stand up and cheer for our normal bodies with the upcoming September issue of Glamour, in this issue on page 194 we will find Lizzie Miller who is not only a model but also one of the bravest of women to grace the pages with her completely natural body. Now is this every woman’s queue to go out and present their bodies in the same way? NO! But it is our queue to not gauge our bodies according to the size and shape of the women around us, we are all unique and for that one reason we should all feel confident and sexy no matter what size we are.

The average dress size for a woman in the U.S is 16 but if you look in most magazines no matter what the title you would never realize it, because the only thing bodies presented are those that are a size 0-6. Now while we are happy for those who are naturally skinny those who are not naturally skinny wish only to be equally represented in the fashion world with style, colors and designs that make them feel electrically charged and excited to shop as opposed to styles that not only help to perpetuate a negative self image but offer the wear no sense of self expression.

As a society we have been conditioned to believe that style is limited to those with small waist lines and fat free thighs when in reality it should be there for all of us to share, no matter the size and/or shape. Fabulous pencil skirts, boyfriend shirts, fabulous fitting jeans and great slacks should be designed for all sizes giving those women who are considered “plus size” the option to be as fun and flirty with their wardrobe as a women who might be a touch smaller.

Style just like size is in the eye of the beholder and for that one reason woman should take the time to get to know their bodies and the image or style that they wish to convey this way no matter what they look and feel fabulous.
