File nails the right way
To keep age-weakened nails from breaking, file them in one direction using a soft emery board. Sawing back and forth weakens nails and causes them to split.

Avoid polish with preservatives
Use a polish base that's labeled formaldehyde free; the preservative can dehydrate and weaken nails that have thinned with age.

Draw the line
To diminish the appearance of droopy lids, add definition with eyeliner. For slick-free application with staying power, use powder and a flat, angled brush rather than a pencil. For a natural look, draw a series of three dots on the outer, center, and inner areas of your upper lids as close to your lash line as possible. Then connect them.

Cover circles correctly
To look fresh and well-rested, you have to counteract the shadows cast by your eyes. So instead of just dabbing concealer on dark circles, pat on a yellow-based cover-up one shade lighter than your foundation as close to the lash line as possible. Preserve moisture
Apply moisturizer before your base to keep foundation from looking cakey on age-dried skin. Avoid oil-free makeup with matte finishes.

Create fuller cheeks
Because of gradual collagen loss, women's cheeks become more concave with age. To create the illusion of fullness, sweep blush on the apple of your cheek rather than contouring your cheeks, and don't apply dark blush in cheek hollows. --Bobbi Brown

Erase veins
Get rid of spider veins with a simple "lunchtime" dermatologic procedure called sclerotherapy, during which a solution that causes the vein to collapse is injected via a very fine needle. After several monthly treatments, about 80% of vessels can be cleared.

Erase neck wrinkles
Years of sunlight break down collagen fibers responsible for keeping skin youthful and firm, so to help fix neck wrinkles, use skin care products that contain retinol or peptides, which can build collagen and smooth skin. They may even reduce the so-called tree-ring lines.

Get high-wattage shine
To lock in your newly colored hair's luster, put 2 drops of orange or grapefruit essential oil into your conditioner after you color.

Fight frizz
Reduce heat damage from blow-drying and curling with appliances that use ionic technology. Built into them is tourmaline, a type of stone that, when activated, generates negative ions that slash drying and styling time.

Warm your grey
The hair's outer layer becomes coarser as it greys, which prevents color from fully penetrating the hair shaft. If your hair is more than 40% grey, permanent dye is the only option for complete coverage. To help color adhere better to your locks, warm an old towel in the dryer and wrap it around hair covered by a disposable plastic cap for 20 minutes while the color develops. If using semi- or demipermanent formula, go one shade darker than your natural color to mask greys. One shade lighter will turn those strands into highlights.

Hide lip lines
Get younger-looking lips and make lip lines less noticeable by applying a lip balm made of beeswax; its heavy consistency softens lines and creates a barrier that keeps lip color from migrating. --Bobbi Brown

Perfect your pout
Plump lips the tasty way: Eating honey -- whether spooned into your tea or smeared on toast -- helps your pucker stay soft and smooth. The natural sugars in honey attract and maintain moisture, so lipstick glides on smoothly and is less likely to bleed into fine lines.
