My teeth never seem to look sparkling bright - as we see on TV. I do not smoke and I also drink very little alcohol. Yet, despite good tootpastes and toothbrushes, I am unhappy with the color of my teeth.
Any suggestions?

The color of the teeth can lose their lustre due to deficiency of vitamins and minerals . so adequate calciums , zinc and some vitamin supplement may be tried. also avoid smoking as that is a common cause of the teeth stains, tea and beverages are also bad for the teeth, regular washing may reduce the discoloration and lastly some genetic factors maybe, so a course of dental scaling or polishing should help . avoid all staining food and also lot of water.Toothpaste with adequate flouride and calcium should help

Try to avoid coffee, and you can use straw instead of drink directly from the cup/glass.
This is the secret of supermodel/models' whiter teeths. Try to discipline yourself to brush your
teeths after meals. And after eat chocolates too..chocolate is the great enemy for your teeths.

Do any of these new Chewing Gums such as Orbit etc, which claim to help your teeth really help? Many of them advertise the fact that chewing them after a meal helps brighten your teeth. Has anyone really experienced that?

hey! beware of that type of toothpaste and chewing gum that are used for brighten you teeth because a friends of mine who is a dentist says that don't use such type of products because it has a large amount of soda in it that for the time brighten your teeth but it removes the natural soft layer off our teeth and our teeth began to feel anything cold or hot you drink or eat. So. be careful.

Thanks for warning me on those gums. The Ads are so enticing that I am often tempted to try them. I do not normally chew gum - so it would have been something alien for me to do!!
Will go back to time-tested methods

Here are some more tips to whiten your teeths......

1. Take a teaspoon of lemon juice and a tsp of salt. Make a paste. Apply this on the yellowish tint.

2. Use the inner white part of an orange peel to rub teeth for a lovely white shine.

3. Take half teaspoon of bi-carbonate of soda mixed with a little water to form a paste. Rub this on your teeth.

4. Dried & powdered Bay leaves combined with dried orange peel is an excellent whitener. :D
